I wrote a review for this bag a long time ago and noticed that there weren't any current reviews on the website. I thought I'd update my review after all these years. I've carried this Safari briefcase with me to work, coaching, and travel nearly everyday since December 2011. It is starting to show a little wear on the corners but it has far outlasted any of my other previous bags. The olive drab color still looks good, even as some of the canvas cloth has slightly faded due to age/use. The metal clasps, straps and leather are still holding strong. On the tag inside my bag, I can still read the handwritten name of the crafter and the date. It doesn't look like Deb is sewing for Duluth Pack anymore but I greatly appreciate her skill (and the rest of the team) in crafting my bag.
A few years ago, I made a trip to America to visit friends and family and my hometown area, Duluth, MN. My 20+ year old Duluth Pack safari briefcase, which I have traveled around the world 25 times--that's 25,000 miles x 25, was showing signs of wear and I decided to replace it with an identical new one and donate my old one to a friend. When I arrived home in Tokyo, I was unsnapping the leather handle and one of the snaps became un-riveted or separated into two pieces! I was dismayed. I emailed Duluth Pack, and even though shipping is very expensive to Japan, they immediately sent me a new one and I donated the flawed one to my US (Colorado) buddy when he was visiting, which he can easily get fixed in America.Duluth Pack customer service is TOP NOTCH!
I have had this bag for many years (10+). While still working I used it as my daily briefcase, it worked perfectly. Since being retired it has continued as a briefcase but also serves as utility bag for almost everything. We have two houses and live about equal time in both places. This bag always transports all our various chargers and electronic gadgets along with medications, electric razor and other items used in both houses. The wife, who probably has 50+ various bags, has always been jealous of my Duluth Pack briefcase. Today I ordered her one for her 71st birthday. I predict she will use it almost exclusively for all car trips. Love it.
I waited a while for the Safari Briefcase to go on sale. So when it did I ordered one. I have not been disappointed. It is solid, rugged, well-made, and good looking. Most of all it is a practical bag for my needs. I can imagine that this briefcase will hold up for years to come.
