I feel like this is something I will use for a very long time.
I have used this pack for about 4 or 5 years now. I get constant complements which is something you don't typically think about when you are shopping for a pack. Most of the time it is just a laptop and a book are my contents. I took online classes and carried it with me everywhere to do my school work in any free time I had. My B.S. was obtained by me and this bag lugging things around. Now I use it when I need to take something to work or short hikes. Now that may not sound like rugged use of a bag, but its been tossed in my truck thrown across a room, set on every piece of outdoors material you can imagine and still looks brand new. I love seeing the USA tags every time I open it. The price is worth it. I imagine the price is why some of you read these reviews because it was for me. It's not expensive when you think about it. This made in America pack will be the last pack you ever buy.
Duluth Pack has an unbelievable assortment of bags and after using the Duluth Pack #4 on several trips to the BWCA, I wanted to upgrade my daily work bag to something more timeless and versatile. I have had the pack for almost 9 months and has made it to work with me daily, and on several trips as well including Mackinaw Island this summer, Phoenix in January, and most recently a trip down to the Dominican! This pack will hold an enormous amount of stuff if you want it to. I used this as my luggage on 2 separate occasions and fit all of my possessions. The flaps on the inside increasing the volume are awesome if overstuffing the bag, but can get in the way daily when the pack is not filled completely. The leather straps are thick, and after a couple months they loosen up and are not as stiff as they were when I purchased it.The padded laptop sleeve works well to separate the contents inside, and also works well as a pad for your back.\n5. The quality of the build is apparent. After months of use the color has not faded, the stitching shows no sign of failing and the leather straps have become worn and the bag is even more user friendly now. I am 6 foot 3 and the bag fits me perfectly. I was a little worried about the size being a little large, but after using this I feel I made the right decision going with the Scoutmaster over the smaller Scout. I love the key clip and the zipper pocket. While traveling, it is nice to clip my keys inside the pack and know that they will not be lost on the trip. The strap connections being on the bottom of the pack. I really like the new design on the smaller scout but the option wasn't available on the pack when I made the investment. The straps can slip around the side of the bag when it is not filled completely and makes carrying a little awkward. The water bottle holders on the side are a bit small. They fit my 18 oz Hydro Flask when the bag is not filled completely, but there is no way of fitting a Nalgene or large bottle in these holders.\n3. Not really a major con, but when the bag is not filled more than half full, it can become a bit droopy. I remedy this by tightening up the shoulder straps. The leather portion of the shoulder straps are extremely long. Even with the bag completely full, I still have 3 notches remaining and I am 6 foot 3, 230 pounds. I do not see how or why anyone would need these to adjust fully out and that just leaves the excess strap dangling. I remedy this by folding the excess strap back into the buckle to eliminate the amount of strap hanging low. Overall I would highly recommend this pack to the daily bag user that prefers a backpack of a laptop bag. It holds everything very well, would accommodate very large to small sized computers and can serve as a daypack on vacations or camping trips. I cannot wait to invest in the smaller Scout for my wife!
I have 3 large grab n go bags - different colors. They are very well made and have plenty of space for packing various items for my trips The different colors help keeping things easily organized. Make a great gift also.
Have owned my Wanderer for about fifteen years now. It has carried everything from gym clothes to hunting gear and has been in nearly every state of the union and Canada. It's been used hard...some might say abused even. But it's still here...waiting for its next adventure; be it riding piggy back on another pack for a week or going out for a day by itself, it's ready for anything I ask of it. It's built to last and it's built to perform and it does both very well. Bet you you can't find a better daypack!
I love the new color (dusk)!!! I'm fairly certain that the only sweatshirts I have in my closet are Duluth Pack!
This arrived with great packaging and in a super fast turnaround time, especially considering it was free shipping! The product itself works really well, and is part of the fun of owning a Duluth Pack. The wax makes the canvas pack look super sleek and it gives me even more confidence sitting in the hull of the canoe. Nothing like watching it melt into the fibers with a hair dryer...
Finally hit the 10 year mark with my rambler! Without a doubt, the most durable and timeless bag I have ever invested in. Originally purchased for backpacking in college, I use it for just about everything - day trips to the lake, weekend bag for airport travel, etc. I have tried other trendy/modern/REI type day trip bags and none of them come remotely close to this in terms of quality and looks.
I bought this bag for my son for school, it holds all his winter gear plus some. Great color, bright orange, and so sturdy, I know I will get a lot of use from this duffle.
I use this for walking to yoga or errands. It's a nice compact fit that is comfortable for my back and yet it still holds a lot. Highly recommend for a daily pack. It will never wear out!
What a piece of hunting gear! This is a Classic and will be for years to come! Built like a tank, but light, durable and engineered for adventure. Has the big pockets you want, tough straps, and a large cargo area for birds Quality rivals what our grandfathers hunted with. Get one while you can. You wont be disappointed!
I bought this pack back in 2003 and it has stood up to more than 20 years of hard use. These bags are incredibly well made. Mine lasted me through college, service with the Peace Corps and countless hours of hiking and traveling. I finally needed to replace it when the canvas wore out to the point where I couldn't repair it. These bags are well worth the money spent on them.
I recently picked up a vintage Monarch 60 pack from a local antique shop. Last week I had an opportunity to use it during an overnight camp. The pack held my tent, canteens, baselayers, knife, cook kit, first aid kit, and sleeping pad with ease. Love the way the pack rode on my back. Only thing I would like to change/add would be a poly liner to make it more water resistant. Great pack for having a 1950's boy scout label on it. And yes, I kept the jamboree label on the pack.
I purchased one for work. I did a lot of traveling so I gave it a good workout. It still looks like new. No signs of wear at 8 years old. I expect to get many years of use before I hand it down to my son.
I ordered it in waxed khaki and it looks great with the brown label and handles. I use it for all my gloves, hats and cords that I keep in my car year round. The size and shape is just right to fit in different compartments. A handy bag to have.
