I'm on the website today to order another of these deluxe bookbags. After 15 years of use in the field, my old one is threadbare and likely won't last another field season. The bag is tough and has endured being dragged through all kinds of brush, been rained on, squished into canoes, backpacks, cars, and the office closet in the off-season. The size is perfect to hold a clipboard and a few reference books, soil knife, bear spray, and other equipment needed for the job, and simple things like pens, sunscreen or bug dope. The carrying strap is comfortable for all day use. I highly recommend this bag.

Purchased my first Deluxe Book Bag more than a decade ago. It was top quality on all levels -- rugged fabric, top-notch craftsmanship, solid brass hardware. I encouraged people who admired it to purchase one for themselves. The newest version features the same quality fabric and craftsmanship but now features cheap, chintzy-looking plated metal hardware. If solid brass hardware costs significantly more than it did a decade ago then raise the price, don't compromise on quality. Duluth Pack, I'm sending it back. You've saved a few pennies but your shortsightedness has cost you a customer.
