The reason I call this a "butt pack" because I'm a former US Marine Sgt, infantry. We had all the Molle attachments on our belt that "floppin and poppin" flying around when we ran--so I wish we had a Duluth Lumber Pack that's designed into "One" piece. Strong, good looking, professional, and handy. Actually, this pack is my accouterments for my Apocalypse Gear if the world ever hits the fan. I put on Filson's --Oil-Finish-Wax--in side and out and even H-shoulder suspenders, and all seams, then dried it for a week. No tacky or slimy--so my gear is set up for 40 years--at least. Expensive, but built right and worth it!
This is my 1st lumbar pack, and I'll never use a larger day pack. Works well for storing shells during hunting, and the dual bottle holders are great for me since I’m a liquid hound. My 1st backpack from Duluth pack was purchased over 30 years ago for canoeing the BWCA and still looks great. Now own the rifle pack, waist pack, and the tear drop pack for fly fishing, built to last!!
All the adjustments to the shoulder strap length is on the back side. If I try to adjust to a useable length the patch that binds the back together rides on my neck. If the shoulder straps are comfortable on me the waist strap rides above my belly button. I am not enormous. I wear a men Large t-shirt. This thing was designed by an idiot, or I got a Friday afternoon shoulder strap assembly. Either way the price is not justifiable.
I have had my All Day Lumbar for several years. The new ones are a little different, by the way. Any way, it has served me well those many years until last night and thieves broke the window out of my truck and guess what was the only item stolenI'll be getting a new one soon.
I bought this pack for hunting and it definitely fits the bill but since hunting season has not arrived yet it has found other uses. Very comfortable and durable. It fits everything I need with room to spare. Good for rappel because it keeps your center of gravity lower while on rope.
