LynneAnne Vesper has worked as a guide in the Boundary Waters for over a decade. Several years ago at the end of the dog sledding season, she had several weeks before her next guiding stint. As she watched the snow recede, an idea came to her. She strapped a harness to an aluminum canoe, tossed in a few packs and began walking into the BWCAW on the melting ice. When travel became too risky, she set up a base camp until the lakes melted and she could paddle home. Come hear LynneAnne recount her adventure on the deteriorating ice. Gain a taste of the unique experience camping in the middle of the wilderness and watching the slow arrival of spring.
