Too heavyReview by Jo

I love the look, craftsmanship and idea, but this is far too heavy for a female to carry books in to school. I tried, but it is a bear. Add the large and bulky straps and it feels like you're carrying a tent to class. Sorry~ (Posted on 3/15/2014)

Love it. I have the Serengeti !
Use your imagination guys to those with quibbles - padding; put small rolled towel at base/ straps take 5 minutes to break in - try twisting and bending them - it works ! Great bag... (Posted on 10/17/2013)
Beautiful bag, but largeReview by flimzy

I bought this bag to use as my daypack on an urban backpacking trip around Central and South America. My criteria for a backpack were: 1) Small and light weight, as it needed to fit inside my larger travel pack. 2) Rugged, so it could last 1-2 years on the road, 3) It must provide good protection for my laptop. 4) It should look stylish, and not make me look like a high school or college student.

This bag succeeded on all counts, except #1. Although it was light "enough" (coming in at 3.0 lbs--the standard laptop daypack is only 2.6lbs, FYI), it was too large and bulky, taking up a nearly a full half of my daypack's contents.

For this reason, I reluctantly returned this bag, which I loved in every other respect, for a smaller bag made by another company.

I didn't use the product long enough to determine how durable it is, but by all appearances, it's probably the most durable back pack I've ever seen, not counting my much larger MEI travel pack, with which it is probably a tie.

I think calling this a "daypack" is a bit of a misnomer, and instead would call it a "small backpack". But to be fair, any bag large enough to carry a laptop is going to be on the large-side of the "daypack" genre, in my opinion.

I would give it 5 stars if not for the fact that it didn't work for my needs. (Posted on 9/22/2012)
Great bag, side pocket?Review by AJ

I've been using this bag for a little over a month now. It fits all my books, pens and, of course, my laptop. Everything is very sturdy and I have a very strong belief that this will be the last backpack (of this size) I'll ever buy.

I have only one issue with the bag and that is its lack of a side pocket or two. I'd like a place to be able to store an umbrella or water bottle. HOWEVER, for how durable this bag seems to be I can easily forget about this. (Posted on 9/18/2012)
Good, but could use a few tweaksReview by Catie

I LOVE this backpack. I am able to fit everything I need in it (I have to carry a lot!!) It's durable and will certainly last a while. The one thing that concerns me is the laptop sleeve- there is no padding on the bottom so the laptop is prone in that area to dents/scratches if you are not careful. I tried putting some foam on the bottom, but it did not work. (Posted on 10/8/2011)

Pretty much my favorite backpack I've ever owned. I read some of the criticisms here and I disagree with some of them. My arms used to feel uncomfortable with the leather straps but after a few days, I got used to them and they feel very sturdy.

Secondly, the lack of water bottle holder is a good thing. Any added pockets on the outside would ruin the look of the bag.

The laptop sleeve is extremely convenient and there is a thin pocket behind it which is perfect for any documents/books. Overall, the ideal bag for the Indiana Jones on campus/in the city. (Posted on 3/6/2011)

I have thought about ordering one of these for years. I found myself in Duluth for work and decided to pull the trigger. I hemmed and hawed about the various bags and packs for an hour and a half. I travel extensively and have gone through a lot of laptop bags. This one is great- except for the fit- I'm a big guy (6-2 250) and it fits differently loaded. The straps bother my arm pits. This has never happened before. I am hoping that once the leather breaks in the problem will go away. A little longer strap would be great for larger torso folks. For that one reason it is a 4 and not the 5 I had hoped for. (Posted on 7/18/2010)

My husband bought this bag for work and travel. He was able to use it once on a trip before the kids and I stole it for a day care bag. It holds everything they need and more. The front pocket holds all their small stuff(diaper cream, benadryl, socks etc) Our bag is five years old and still looks great. Dad will have to by his own bag, we are not giving it up! Great backpack but 2 minor flawsReview by Treebee

I love this backpack. It is an awesome bag to use for college and trips. The lifetime warranty is a huge plus and was part of the deciding factor when I made this purchase. There are a few things that I would have liked changed though. Firstly, I am worried about the bottom of the bag. It is double lined with canvas but my friend's bag got holes after 2 years of use. Duluth Pack fixed it but she had to use a different bag while that was happening. To solve this, someone suggested I line the bottom with duck tape to make it more durable and to help it support the heavy book load I carry around daily. Secondly, there is no water bottle holder. I don't want to just attach my Nalgene by a caribeaner because then it would bounce around and hit me. I also don't want to put it in the extra pocket because the condensation or if it leaked would get my pencils, calculator, phone, ect. wet. I am thinking of asking Duluth Pack if they can add a canvas pocket to the side if it won't void the lifetime warranty. The awesome things about this backpack are already listed by msv so you can read hers. (Posted on 7/16/2010)

I rated this product a 5 because that's as high as I could go. This laptop backpack deserves a TEN out of five!! It is really fantastic. 1. It is super strong. 2. The laptop sleeve is extremely effective--nicely lined so it is VERY easy to get the laptop in and out. 3. There is a very useful, almost-hidden area behind the sleeve where you can stash a slim travel wallet and not have it easily visible to someone who opens the pack. 4. The classic leather straps and the leather trim give the pack a very attractive look. 5. The zippers are just about the best I have ever seen on any bag anywhere (except other Duluth bags) 6. The main compartment is spacious and the accessory pocket is useful. A simple design that WORKS. GREAT WORK, Duluth! (Posted on 7/15/2010)
