I bought one of these and had it dangling from my yoke, but it was difficult to open and close while it was swinging. So, I bought a second one and now strap them to each side of the inside of the canoe. The canoe wall keeps the bags upright. I put my shirt, camera, cell phone, food, radio, fishing tackle, water, sun-tan oil, car keys, etc. in them, off the bottom of the canoe. With all that, they are still only about 4" thick. I recommend highly.

Good idea- just needs fine tuning

Great idea but just too small. A SeaLine map case has to folded to fit in. Field glasses barely fit in the front pouch. The cover flap is not generous enough to cover the bags contents. Make it longer, taller, and deeper.

I have an Old Town pack, and use this bag just to pop my easy access bits and pieces in sat nav, camera, phone ,knife etc, in waterproof inner packs, I have also fixed a lightweight leather should strap and use the bag in this way when I leave the boat of just go on holiday or round town, great little bag, prefer this one I do not like plastic.

I bought this not for my canoe, but for my 16' aluminum boat. I mounted a couple of d rings on the boat and connected this bag to the d rings. I keep maps, handheld GPS, VHF radio, and other stuff in it. My only problem is the strap to access the compartment is a bit tedious to open when I'm running down the bay. Dare I say Velcro would be welcome? I use this is a salt water environment and so far so good. It has only been a couple of years, but that's a good enough test for me.
