Much better than a safety pin.

This blanket pin is heavy duty enough to really hold a thick wool blanket draped around you all night. While the traditional circle blanket pin design is nice, those type of pins go for $10-35. For one buck you can have all the function. I have two of these inside my pack flap just in case I have a wardrobe malfunction in everyday life.
