Just scrape off a pile of magnesium shavings with the attached striker then strike a spark from the steel. FIRE! Works even after a dunking when your matches are wet and useless. Elk antler handle. works well takes some skill to shoot sparks at magnesium flakes

tried this instore and it worked amazingly well. simple to use and effective. will take some practice to get spark from steel to land on magnesium flakes. magnesium will be gone b4 the steel train yourself to use long even strokes on the magnesium to avoid creating a divot.
