Wanted one of these for a long time!! Recently took it on a 2 week Greek Island hopping holiday & it was plenty big enough for all my stuff. No probs with using it as a carry on bag for the flight either. At around 55ltrs it's a good size for short or longer trips & robust enough not to worry where you drop it. Great value for money for something that will get better with age & last a lifetime. Well done Duluth!!

I bought this for family trips, because, when traveling with three small children, we travel with huge quantities of stuff. I wanted a "catch all" that would have room for my things plus whatever else my kids wouldn't/couldn't carry. My daypack wouldn't cut it any longer, and I needed it to be just small enough to fit, fully stuffed, into an airplane overhead compartment. Finally, I needed something in which I could have complete faith. I can't have a bag stuffed like a pinata bursting apart while I'm trying to get my family in or out of a plane or through an airport. This bag just nails all those requirements: Just the right size, and with astonishing durability. You won't find perfectly aligned stitches, but you will find rugged materials, with everything reinforced where it needs to be reinforced. It is a life-time purchase.

I've been using my Rambler for just under a year now, and I couldn't be happier. It has been on lots of car road trips, train and plane trips and still looks like new. It's small enough to be an airline carry on and 3-4 days of stuff fits no problem. The only issue I have is that the rivets are rough on nylon shirts inside the pack. I had a couple of snagged polos before I realized what was happening. Put jeans or something a bit more rugged next to the exposed rivet heads and the problem is solved. Overall, an outstanding product!

I've had my Rambler pack since 2008. I often use it in conjunction with the All Day Lumbar pack. They work perfectly together, and having the lumbar pack acts to transfer some of the load to your legs. The quality of both packs is outstanding!

I've had my waxed Rambler for about 7 years and am still in love. I use it for business and pleasure, air travel and camping, in winter and summer. Most recently it went with me to New Zealand (along with a Duluth Pack Rucksack) where it was a total champ. That it can be pressed into service as a carry-o bag in this day and age of luggage surcharges is a clear advantage. I have even put it under my plane seat . I'm 5'2", and I find that it fits a short person well--I can even put my short shoes in the side pockets. Its dimensions work perfectly with packing cubes, and when well packed, it holds enough for a week's worth of clothes and personal belongings even in colder weather. After many years now, nothing has even come close to failing and it gets better looking each season. I agree that lash points would be nice, but that said, I find most bulky things can be rolled up blanket-style under the top flap.

A beautiful pack. I use my thermarest to line the pack and it works beautifully. I can fit allllot of stuff in this bag, even for a week long backpacking trip. It is tough and well built. Pretty comfortable with no need for a waist belt, a tleast for me. I love the thick leather, huge pockets and color, i got the olive drab and it looks great. Overall a great pack that will last a long time. Go buy it!!

Bought this along with a couple other Duluth Packs for my upcoming bwca trip to use as our daypack / overflow but also because right now I have to travel a lot for my job. I am working overseas and wanted a backpack large enough to hold my clothes for 2 weeks when I go home plus whatever extra stuff I need to bring back with me. Regular luggage doesn't work on gravel so I needed a backpack. The Rambler is large enough to hold everything I need to squeeze in and I am still able to take it as a carry on. It's very well made, durable and I like knowing that if anything happens to it I can send it back to be repaired good as new. If I had one complaint it would be that I would have liked the waxed canvas but passed because I thought that the difference in price was too high.

- My favorite pack

I currently own three Duluth Pack packs and the Rambler is my favorite. It is the perfect size for day paddle trips when I want/need to bring some extra gear or as my "small" pack on overnight paddling trips. I also have used it on many scout outings with my son (he packs his clothes and sleeping bag in it). It is extremely well made and I have had no complaints with the workmanship/craftsmanship for the past eight years. I prefer the front zippered pocket to the buckle type, simply because it makes it easier to get to the small items. The shoulder straps are very comfortable, but I tend to agree with some of the other reviewers that leather straps would be nice to have. My only complaint is that I purchased my Rambler before waxed canvas was available. Overall, a great pack.
